Tharaka constituency 2022 hopeful MP Muchomba Marigu has faulted incumbent MP Gitonga Murugara over what he terms as misplaced priorities to Tharaka people in terms of development
Speaking at Kathangacini when he visited bodaboda operator groups, Muchomba said most of development projects being initiated by Murugara are burdening the beneficiaries instead of adding value to them.
Giving an example of recently issued CDF bus to Ndiuni primary school in Tharaka North sub county, Muchomba said the bus is burden to the school whereas the cash used to procure the bus could have been used to boost the school in other areas they require dearly.
“The bus issued to Ndiuni primary by the MP has given parents an extra burden to pay for the bus driver and maintaining the bus. This comes when the school and the locality continues to languish in extreme water challenges that could have been solved first instead of the bus issuance,’’ he said.
He further faulted Murugara for spending 2.5 million in training bodaboda operators on driving skills who have never received their driving licenses to date which don’t make any difference to others who have never undergone the training.
Muchomba instead said such amount was enough to buy each group a new motorbike which would be earning respective groups some cash at the end of the day to be used for charity work in the community instead of mere training without the issuance of driving licenses.
In his visit, Muchomba met Kiyachi bodaboda operators, Kathangacini, Gaceuni and Gaichuri women group all in Gatunga ward.
Apart from reflectors for bodaboda operators, every group benefitted with Sh 10,000 from the aspirant to boost their table banking.
He urged the operators in the bodaboda sector to remain united for better progress of their ventures in a bid to boost Tharaka economically.
