The newly installed Tharaka Nithi acting governor Eng. Francis Nyamu kagwima and his convoy were denied entry in Marimanti town by heavy contingent of police officers that was deployed in the town following his innogulation as the acting governor.
The convoy was coming from governor’s office at Kathwana where the innogulation ceremony was held in attendance of several members of the county assembly and other politicians in the county.
Police said being on a market day, the convoy would attract a mammoth crowd which would make social distancing an issue considering that COVID-19 remains a threat in the country.
Kagwima condemned the move to block them saying that he has always visited the place even in other market days and today was not a different day either.“Marimanti being my home place has seen me visit the market in other market days and don’t think their claims are genuine,’’ he said.
The acting governor pledged to tirelessly work for the betterment of the county’s constituents and push the projects that have stalled.
