The service party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has disputed recent claims by 3 Mt. Kenya East governors that the region has been sidelined in terms of governance as compared to their Mt.Kenya west counterparts.
Speaking during his visit to Tharaka Nithi county to initiate recruitment of TSP members at Marimanti, Kiunjuri said the entire Mt.Kenya has been left behind when other areas are developing and thus the allegations by the governers are divisive.
“The entire of Mt.Kenya region which earnestly voted for Uhuru Kenyatta has been left out in terms of development while areas like Nyanza,Taita Taveta and others who were the opposition are reaping big. Thus the claims that Mt.Kenya east has been left behind in favour of Mt. Kenya west is unfounded” Kiunjuri said.
Kiunjuri argued that both regions have 3 Cabinet secretaries besides Mt.Kenya East also producing national assembly speaker who is third in command.
He also gave an example of Embu county governor Martin Wambora who chairs the council of governors and the new chief Justice Martha Koome who hails from the same region.
The service party leader said that leaders should engage on issue based politics concerning development agendas instead of engaging in divisive politics.
“Our leaders and aspirants should be engaging on how voters will get better roads, enough water supply and food security. The rest are mere talks that are of no use to voters and leaders should shun from such politics,” he warned.
Meru county governor Kiraitu Murungi,Muthomi Njuki of Tharaka Nithi and Martin Wambora of Embu county have lately thrown their weight behind Speaker Muturi’s Mt Kenya kingship bid after his controversial coronation.
They argued that their region has been sidelined in terms of development and thus they need a representative from the region who will advocate for their issues, citing Muturi as their preffered man.
Drumming support for his party, Kiunjuri said it is time the region embrace a party that they can be identified with to give them a voice.
He noted that the challenges that Mt.Kenya is experiencing currently is as a result of folding political parties to form Jubilee party that has denied them bargaining power to air out their issues as region, eroding the respect that other communities had for Mt.Kenya.
“There before other communities used to respect Mt.Kenya region owing to the unity we have been fostering.Unfortunately today we are being laughed off by the same communities because we tried to please them at our expense,” Kiunjuri noted.
The service party leader thus said it is time the region hold to a political party that will offer them a place at negotiation table for the National cake sharing.
He was accompanied by former Tharaka Nithi county governor and who is vying for senatorial post Samuel Mbae Ragwa, Marimanti ward MCA Susan Mwindu and Peninah Kambanja who is vying for the county woman seat.
Others present were prominent business man Muthomi 810 an MP aspirant for Chuka Igambangombe constituency and former minister in governor Ragwa’s regime and who is vying for Marimanti ward MCA seat Magdalene Kirema.
Ragwa revealed that the party has so far registered more than 16,000 members in the county and their aim is to hit 40,000 members.
Ragwa lauded TSP party leadership saying it is accessible by leaders hence giving marginalized communities a channel to air their development proposals.
“Tharaka was not scheduled in national food program. Also Tharaka has lagged behind in terms of Road network because elected leaders have no access to national leadership a thing that can be avoided by having a party whose leadership is reachable,” Ragwa said.
Business man Muthomi 810 said that national cake is not a wedding cake and it requires better and early planning to sit at the national negotiation table for residents to benefit.
The leaders asked residents to register and support the new political party and they will realize development projects they have not had before.
The team will be visiting Chuka Igambang’ ombe and Maara subcounties tomorrow for the purpose of recruiting members into TSP party.
