The Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya, H.E David Maraga today via a written letter advised President Kenyatta to dissolve the Parliament of the Republic of Kenya for failing to enact the ‘Third gender rule’ that translates to at least one woman in every three elected member of parliament even after six petitions were filled on this matter according to the viral letters seens by NewsFlash.
However, some parliamentarians haven’t taken to challenge the possibilities and basis of achieving this. Wambugu Ngujiri, Nyeri town Mp a strong supporter of President Kenyatta and the ruling government, took to his Facebook handle to criticise the move for lack of well laid structures to achieve this…‘However the reality is that until there is an integrated structure of how to ensure that a universal suffrage election results in a situation where 30% of all elected leaders are of an alternate gender, even if we dissolve Parliament today and go back to elections the results will be as they are today – or worse. And we will have to dissolve Parliament, again.’’
In his letter, the CJ termed the current parliament as unconstitutional and hence advised the President to have it dissolved.
Maraga is known for strong adherence to the Constitution of Kenya and laws with the move to nullify the last election Presidential election on September 2017 forcing Kenyans to go back to election,a historic ruling that made Maraga get equal of admirations by international community and hate from the ruling party, Jubilee Party
