Tharaka Mp Gitonga Murugara has come out boldly to refute claims earlier made by the director of national museums Dr.Mzalendo Kibunjia that he is liaising with the ministry of tourism to have Ura gate grounds permanently put at a cost of 10 Million.
Speaking to News Flash 254, Murugara said the funding has been sourced through his efforts and that of senator Kindiki and thus Mzalendo is featuring nowhere. He said that it was during the visit of the minister for tourism and wildlife Najib Balala to commission fencing of Meru national park where the leaders from the county bestowed him with the responsibility of following the funding.
“I was instructed by the leaders present during the Meru national park electric fencing among them being senator Kithure Kindiki, Governor Muthomi Njuki, and Maara Mp Kareke Mbiuki to fast track with the ministry of tourism to have the Sh 10 million released,” he told FlashNews 254.
The Tharaka legislator further revealed that the whole construction cost is estimated at Sh 80 million and he is pushing for the disbursement of the cash in phases.
Murugura, therefore, requested Mzalendo to also allocate some cash towards the noble project that is set to help the Atharaka community to conserve and showcase their rich culture through Tharaka Ura Gate annual cultural festivals held annually.
