Needy women and especially widows from Tharaka were pleasured to receive food donations from the county government of Tharaka Nithi in an initiative launched by the CEC public service and administration Mr. Abraham Maruta.
The donations were held at Nyangumi stadium in Marimanti ward,Gatunga chief’s office in Gatunga ward and Iriani primary school in Mukothima ward.
Speaking during the donations, Maruta comforted the widows and advised them to endure the life hardships they may be going through while raising their children.”The gift of children you have been given by God should be taken care of and as a Government, we will chip in where possible to render help in various ways like in educating them,” Maruta said
Maruta used the chance to condemn leaders who he said have been dividing residents with unfounded politics saying a leader is elected using a scorecard and not mere utterances.
He further affirmed to the residents that Njuki’s administration is intact and operational despite the graft case that the governor has been charged with and said that service delivery to mwananchi will continue undeterred by anyone.
“We are not politicking but doing real service delivery to the common man and when the time comes to account for what we will have done, we shall comfortably and proudly cite the development projects we will have initiated,” Maruta added.
The women thanked the Njuki led government for remembering them at a time like this they are undergoing a difficult time in life situations and especially when they are maneuvering through the COVID-19 effects.
