Nkondi ward member of county assembly Gitonga Kithuuka says there is a great need for constituents to register for NHIF to avoid accruing medical bills when illnesses strike.
Speaking during the burial of Ms.Maira Muchiri in Tumanya village, Nkondi ward, Tharaka South sub county and who has been a teacher at Gatunga primary school, Gitonga said there is a great need for every constituent to register for the program for quality and affordable health care.
“When illness strikes, many people have severally found themselves in financial crisis to foot hospital bills. This can be easily be avoided if everyone can register for NHIF which caters for bills, lowering the cost of treatment,” Gitonga said.
Also, the MCA advised young people to ensure they enroll their elderly parents in the program to ensure they are not left behind. Kenyans are at push to enroll in the national hospital insurance fund(NHIF) to cushion them from the high cost of treatment which at times leaves vulnerable families in poor state after exhausting every resource available to foot bills for their loved ones.
