After long rumoured sacking of Silvester Mutwiri from Gatunga Ward who has been a representative for youths and women especially on advising self-help groups from the ward, it is now official that he was shown the door from the office.
Addressing members of press, Silvester who is also a Gatunga ward MCA aspirant confirmed that he no longer works in the office of Tharaka MP Gitonga Murugara following his sacking and said it is no longer a secret that he was shown the door.
According to Silvester, his sacking might have been contributed by his colleagues opponents who are working in the same office who he says might be the boss’s preferred candidates in Gatunga ward and therefore had to seek a way of eliminating him.
“From the look of things happening in the office of the MP, it is quite evident that he already has his preferred candidates in respective wards in Tharaka. Therefore my opponents had to seek a way to see me out of the office for them to have their way,’’ he said.
He says when the boss is touring Gatunga Ward and he is given a chance to address gatherings on the people’s projects they want done, his opponents in the same office have been portraying him to the MP in a way to show he is fighting his administration.
This according to silvester has portrayed him in bad light in the eyes of legislator thus getting sense in ousting him from his position.
Another reason for his sacking is firm stand on advocating for Gatunga people injustices touching on discriminative funds allocations to organized groups in Gatunga ward and tender awarding to youths in the ward.
He says he has tried to severally convince Murugara to equally distribute funds to various youths and women groups in Gatunga ward who applies for funds but this has been taken as fighting the MP. This has been the same case to tenders awarding in the ward.
“From over 1,000 tenders in Tharaka constituency in the office of CDF,no single youths in Gatunga ward has ever benefited from the vast tenders.Generally, only one person from Gatunga who has been able to get a tender from CDF,’’ Silvester said.
Further, the sacked official revealed that tenders from Tharaka CDF are awarded to specific people across the 5 wards in Tharaka denying other deserving parties a chance to benefit. Therefore his bid to ensure the tenders are fairly distributed factored in a big way to his ouster.
He said MP Murugara has not been of any help to Tharaka youths since his election and it is a challenge the MP ought to address even after his sacking since the move to get rid of him will not change the situation.
Additionally, Silvester said his inquiry as to why Gatunga was being treated unfairly, the response he has been getting is that the region did not produce enough votes in favour of Murugara during elections and thus they deserve what they are getting.
Our efforts to reach the MP to shed light over the issue went fruitless but he said the statement by silvester is defaming him.
Silvester therefore said he is no longer an officer in the office of MP Murugara and so he is not in a position to attend to the needs of Gatunga youths having been ousted.
However he said he will not cease from advocating on goodwill of Gatunga people and when right time comes he will be announcing his move political wise.
