In the midst of war of words among leaders over the controversial BBI document, Tharaka Nithi senator and immediate former deputy speaker in senate has faulted the majority whip in Senate and his colleague senator Irungu Kang’ata over the letter he has written to the president Uhuru Kenyatta on BBI matters in Mt.Kenya region and leaked to media.
Through his face book page, the law professor says it was not a candid thing considering the caliber of the senator to pen the letter and then `leak’ it to media, unless he is on his way out of the camp.
“Writing a letter with sensitive content ostensibly addressed to the president and leaking to the media is disingenuous for an `insider’, unless one is on exit,’’ Kindiki wrote.
Although Kindiki says the objectives of the letter can be met, it may have consequences that may not be discoverable for now resulting from the unskillful manner in the way the letter was done.
“While the objectives of the letter remains achievable, the leak is amateurish and may result in unforeseen consequences. A bit of tact and sophistication was required,’’ read the post in bits.
Muranga senator Irungu Kang’ata who has in the recent past appeared to be on the fore front in drumming support for the BBI document has written to the president Uhuru Kenyatta informing him that BBI is unpopular in Mt.Kenya.
In the letter, Kang’ata told the president that he owes him the truth and he will not pin himself on a pillar of impending shame of defeat.
It is the letter that has sparked different reactions among leaders with Kenyans left to watch how the events unfold now that the ODM party leader Raila Odinga has since announced that the referendum is set for June this year.
