Tharaka Nithi senator and a law professor Kithuure Kindiki has strongly faulted the incumbent and embattled governor Njuki for the woes facing the constituents and especially in Tharaka.
Appearing in public for the first time this year during a burial ceremony of the retired teacher Cyprian Kithinji at Gitendera village Nkondi ward in Tharaka North Sub County, the senator said he is apologetic for having endorsed Njuki to locals thinking he would deliver the people of Tharaka Nithi from the challenges they have faced since time immemorial.
Using coded language, Kindiki compared the governor to a home cat that has since turned to a wild cat to terrorize the host family and thus there is need to device a means to have the cat eliminated before it creates more mess.
“When we were voting in the leaders we have, no one knew whether some would turn against costituents.Just like the head of the family does, I brought in a nice cat to flush out the rats that had become destructive in the house, but unfortunately the cat changed into a wild thing and started terrorizing the family property it ought to be guarding,’’ he said.
Following this, Kindiki thus said the electorates should now embark on strategizing on the means to have the wild cat eliminated from the family in efforts to salvage the remaining property before the condition worsens.
Further, the senator denied claims that are being peddled by his political opponents that he is eying the Tharaka Member of Parliament seat to meet qualifications to be installed as a prime minister incase BBI finds its way through.
Instead, Kindiki said he will be on the fore front to ensure the `wild cat’ is no more unless he is assured there is another person equal to the task since he said the process requires a strong person with enough tacts to succeed.
During the event, Nkondi ward MCA and who was governor Njuki’s messenger had hard time in the hands of other MCAs aspirants led by one Mugao Ichenga who accused him of colluding with governor to dehumanize Tharaka people to an extent of sacking their people without replacement and carrying out shoddy projects with no economic impacts.
“I am calling upon the senator who is mandated with oversight role to move around inspecting all the projects done by the Njuki led government to ascertain if there is value for money since most of the projects done have no economic impacts at all and thus public money has gone into waste,’’ Ichenga complained.
Ichenga who is eying for the Nkondi ward MCA seat blasted Kithuuka for remaining silent from the tenders he is getting from the county, when the governor has been sacking Tharaka employees in the county one after the other replacing them with people from other places.
“The MCA has been carrying out business with the county ranging from tender awarding and others. Thus he cannot dare complain when our children are being sacked day after day being replaced by others from different places whereas we have qualified people,’’ he continued.
Governors Njuki’s political influence has been dwindling in Tharaka from poor performance especially on water projects and the latest being the graft case he is facing after being charged with theft of Sh 34 million in the exorbitant and fraudulent solid waste incinerator tender among other scandals.
From the look of the event, it is clear that much is expected to twist as 2022 succession politics in the county shape up with political wave in Tharaka favouring politicians allied to Kindiki and those opposed to the BBI gospel.
