The director of public prosecution has issued an order to arrest and prosecute Tharaka Nithi governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki along side other county officials over 34.9 fraudulent tender.
Njuki made headlines over the Sh 34.9 million incinerator which raised eyebrows over the balooned cost that the machine was sold to county at.
The governor alongside other officials are being sought over westomax company which worn the disputed tender and went ahead making the delivery of the incinerator at exorbitant costs. This is in connection of other 7 companies which the dpp on friday said most are associated with the county boss and have been transacting with the county.
Njuki is being sought along side Emily Nkatha-procurement officer, Frolidah Kiende – director procurement, Highton Muriithi- Finance officer, Mike Mwiandi-Accountant, Fridah Murungi-chief environment officer among others.
The dpp said he is satisfied by available evidence that procurement rules and procedures were highly violated by the county officials considering that the whole tendering was done without environmental impact assesment.
The Incinerator that cost TharakaNithi taxpayers Sh 34.9 million was imported at mere Sh 3.8 million clearly indicating that this it was real money laundering.
