The county government of TharakaNithi is set to roll out its first edition of the youth empowerment program for its youths.
According to a letter dated 24th August this year from the department of education,youths,culture,sports and tourism to all members of county assembly,the program is targetting organized and registered groups all over the county.
“The following are target sectors the county government wishes to target:agriculture and allied, food and beverage services, transport and allied, bulding and construction and sports events. Others include events and allied services, information technology, creative arts, trade services and allied,” reads the letter in parts.
Interested registered groups will be required write project proposals which they intend to carry out and then present them to county government.The proposals shall then be vetted where those meeting the prescribed threshold will have their groups bought various equipments they require in form of grants to help them implement their proposals.
The county chair of the juakali sector,micro and small enterprises Mr. Patrick Muchiri lauded the initiative and urged youths to take the chance to advance their projects.”My appeal to youths who are operating in organized groups of say:hair dressing,carwash,shoe shine,furniture,metal fabrication,food value addition,artists and other enterprises is to come out and seize the opportunity,” said Mr. Patrick.
The chair therefore advised registered and organized groups to visit their respective ward administration offices for detailed directives.
The initiative that is planned to be rolled out starting the oncoming September will boost youths in their various enterprises,if at all it will be a success.
