Worshipers at GFBC Gatithini church which is in Mukothima ward in Tharaka North Sub county have been forced to conduct their today’s church service using a a mere skin made drum after their church instruments were stolen from the church by unknown people last night.
According to Rev. Stanley Gaichu who is in charge of the church, they woke up on the Sunday morning only to find broken church door and also that of the store with all the church electronics missing without a trace.“We have lost all our church instruments including a console, speakers,a generator,a set of wireless microphones and connecting cables to unidentified people who broke into our church premises last night,” Rev. Gaichu said.
The aggrieved worshipers narrated how they have been working hard to raise the cash to purchase the instruments with the latest being the wireless microphones which they said had been used only on one service.
Joseph Kirema who is a sunday school teacher here said he had come to the church like other days but upon his arrival he noticed that the children he teaches were already inside the church while he had not opened for them as it has always been the norm.“On my arrival at the church premises in the morning,i noticed that my children who i teaches had already accessed the church while i had not yet opened for them.It was after surveying the compound that i noticed that even the store was broken and that is when i informed the pastor,” he said.
The church members have been left on cross roads without knowing how they will get another set of church instruments considering that the church has an approaching wedding ceremony which will require the use of instruments.
They urged any member of public who may be having any information that might lead to recovery of their items to come forward and assist. Also they appealed to people of goodwill to chip in and assist them raise money so that they get another set of instruments.
